Thawe Durga Temple theft case: STF raided the house of absconding accused Sharif Alam, dug out the ground and found these things

Bihar The case of theft worth crores that took place on the night of 17th September in the famous Thave Durga temple is now moving towards big revelations. Police raided the house of absconding accused Sharif Alam and recovered jewelery related to theft from several properties. In this high-profile case, a joint team of STF and Gopalganj Police conducted a search operation throughout the night with metal detectors and forensic experts.

According to the police, the accused is still suspected to have a large part of the jewelery stolen from the temple. To arrest the accused, the police had earlier released his photo and now this raid has taken an important step towards his arrest.

Excavation of land during raid

STF and Gopalganj police on Saturday conducted a major raid on the house of accused Sharif Alam located in Arar locality of Gopalganj Nagar police station area. The ground inside the house was excavated, in which many suspicious items and jewelery related to theft were found. Police sources say that the forensic team is investigating the recovered items and on the basis of this, action will be taken towards other locations of the accused as well.

Crores of rupees were stolen from the temple

It is noteworthy that on the night of 17th September, unknown thieves had entered the sanctum sanctorum of Thawe Durga temple and stolen the gold crown, necklace and umbrella of Goddess Durga and other valuable jewellery. When the priest and temple committee people arrived in the morning, the theft was revealed. After this incident, there was a stir throughout Bihar and the pressure on the police to take swift action increased.

Arrests have already been made

During the investigation, on the basis of CCTV footage and technical evidence, the police first arrested Deepak Rai, a resident of Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh. After many important revelations during interrogation, the name of Ijmamul Alam of Motihari came to light. Izmamul Alam was arrested during the encounter in Gopalganj, in which he was injured. A stolen part was also recovered from him. Ijmamul Alam exposed the role of Sharif Alam during interrogation, after which the accused was absconding.
