Fog ‘occupies’ Delhi-NCR: 128 flights cancelled, 50 trains stopped; Check this helpline list before leaving home

The double whammy of dense fog and air pollution in the country’s capital Delhi and the entire NCR has made the condition of people miserable. There was dense fog in many areas of Delhi-NCR since Sunday morning. Which became even more dense by evening and still remains so. Due to this, the speed of vehicles moving on the roads has become extremely slow. Visibility reduced to about 50 metres. Due to low visibility, vehicles were seen moving on the roads with parking lights on.

Along with fog, pollution is also increasing in the capital. According to Sameer App of Air Pollution Control Board, the air quality index has been recorded above 400 in many areas of Delhi. Which falls in the extremely dangerous category. The overall AQI of the capital was around 400. Whereas it reached 446 in Noida, 434 in Greater Noida and 445 in Gurugram. A thick layer of mist and smog has engulfed the entire area. Due to which people are facing problems like burning sensation in eyes, difficulty in breathing, cough and headache.

The effect of dense fog and smog is also clearly visible on air traffic. Flight movement at Indira Gandhi International Airport is badly affected. The Civil Aviation Ministry has informed by tweeting that due to fog in some parts of North India, flight operations at some airports may be affected, which may cause delays. Passengers are advised to keep checking for updates from the airline’s official communication channels. Customer support numbers of airlines have also been released. A total of 128 flights have been canceled at Delhi Airport today. There are 64 incoming and 64 outgoing. 8 have been diverted and more than 30 are running late.

Trains are also running late

According to the Railways, due to dense fog, more than 50 trains were running late by several hours on Monday morning. If the fog does not clear for a few more hours, trains will be delayed even more. Due to delay in trains, passengers are also facing a lot of problems at the railway station.
