The Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a latest update saying that the weather is going to deteriorate completely in the last days of the year. From North to South India, rain, dense fog and severe cold wave are set to increase the problems of the people. In many states the mercury may drop up to 4 degrees, which will further increase the chill.
Danger of rain and snowfall in these 5 states
According to the Meteorological Department, from the evening of December 31, the weather will change in five major states of North India – Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu-Kashmir and Haryana. There will not only be rain in these areas, but there is also a possibility of snowfall in the hilly areas. Due to this change, there will be a huge drop in temperature by 3 to 4 degrees. The administration has advised people to get accurate weather information before leaving home for New Year celebrations.
Entry of severe cold and rain in Delhi
The cold is now about to reach its peak in the country’s capital Delhi. Clouds will start gathering in the sky from the evening of 30th December. It is estimated that there may be light to moderate rain on December 31. Tomorrow the maximum temperature of Delhi is expected to be around 21 degrees and the minimum temperature will be around 7 degrees Celsius, which will increase the melting.
Double attack of fog in UP-Bihar
The coming days may be very difficult for the people of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. A warning of dense fog has been issued in more than 20 cities of UP including Lucknow, Kanpur, Prayagraj and Agra. At the same time, in districts like Patna and Muzaffarpur of Bihar, visibility is likely to be less than 50 meters. Driving on the roads will be no less than a challenge, so passengers have been asked to be extremely careful.
‘Zero visibility’ in Punjab and rain in Rajasthan
In areas like Amritsar and Bathinda of Punjab, fog can become so dense that nothing in front can be seen. At the same time, a new Western Disturbance is becoming active in Rajasthan. Due to its effect, the last day of the year and the morning of the new year may be accompanied by rain drops in areas like Bikaner, Churu and Sikar.
Cold wave havoc in Jharkhand and Madhya Pradesh
There is no hope of relief in Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand also. In Bhopal and Rewa of MP, cold winds blowing at a speed of 15 km per hour will shiver even to the bones. Cold wave alert has been issued in 11 districts of Jharkhand including Ranchi and Palamu. On the other hand, rain will continue in Tamil Nadu, South India for the next three days, due to which fishermen have been instructed to stay away from the sea.
