Future talks with India will be on the basis of equality: Mohsin Naqvi!
“The status quo on handing over the trophy remains. If India wants the trophy, they will have to send their captain to Dubai and collect the trophy from me,” Mohsin Naqvi told Telecom Asia Sports.
India had won against Pakistan by 5 wickets in the Asia Cup final played in Dubai on 28 September. During the presentation ceremony after the title win, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, after which the trophy is still kept in the office of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) in Dubai.
Naqvi claimed that as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), only he has the right to hand over the trophy.
Along with this, Naqvi said that Pakistan will complain to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding the poor behavior of Indian Under-19 players in the Junior Asia Cup.
Speaking to Telecom Asia Sports, Naqvi said, “We will write a letter to the ICC to complain about the behavior of the Indian junior players during the Junior Asia Cup final, which was not acceptable.”
The controversy escalated after India’s T20 captain Yadav did not shake hands with Pakistani captain Salman Aga during the toss in the Asia Cup. Naqvi said that there will be no compromise with India, and if they do not want to join hands with our players, then everything will be done on an equal basis.
On this issue, Naqvi said, “If India does not allow its players to shake hands with our players, then it will be dealt with on the basis of equality and there will be no compromise. We have no interest in shaking hands with them.”
