Dehradun : The case of murder of Tripura MBA student Angel Chakma in Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand, has shocked the entire country. The Uttarakhand government has shown sensitivity on this serious incident and has provided financial assistance to the victim’s family. On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, an assistance of Rs 4,12,500 has been given to the family of Angel Chakma. This assistance has been approved under the Scheduled Caste-Tribe Prevention of Atrocities Act.

First installment of government assistance released
According to the official statement issued by the state government, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, immediate financial assistance was provided to Tarun Prasad Chakma, father of late student Angel Chakma. This amount has been given under the provisions of the Prevention of Atrocities Act 1989 and the Civil Rights Protection Act. As part of the administrative process, this matter was sent to the District Social Welfare Officer through the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, after which a check of Rs 4 lakh 12 thousand 500 was handed over to the victim’s family as the first installment.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami himself spoke to Angel Chakma’s father on phone and consoled him and assured that the culprits in this case will be given the harshest punishment. He said that this incident is very sad and in a peaceful state like Uttarakhand, such an incident is painful for all of us. The Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has been a center of education for the students of the country and abroad and the government will not tolerate such incidents at all.

Speed ​​up investigation, action against accused
The Chief Minister informed that so far five out of six accused have been arrested in this case. One accused is suspected to have fled to Nepal, on whom a reward of Rs 25,000 has been announced. Continuous efforts are being made to catch him. Two of the arrested accused are said to be minors, while the other accused have been identified as Suraj Khawas, Avinash Negi and Sumit.

According to Uttarakhand Police, Angel Chakma died due to serious injuries to the spinal cord and head. Dehradun SSP Ajay Singh said that the investigation is progressing rapidly and strict action will be taken on the basis of all the evidence.

Many opposition leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, have called it the result of a mentality of hatred and discrimination.
