Driver reverses bus in Mumbai, crushes 4 people, 9 injured

Mumbai city has once again been shaken by a terrible accident of BEST bus. Around 10:05 pm on Monday night, a BEST bus outside Bhandup (West) railway station, while reversing, ran over people standing at the bus stop. 4 people died and 9 were injured in this accident.

 

According to the police, the bus was taking reverse when the accident occurred. The bus hit about 10-12 people, out of which four died on the spot. The injured were immediately admitted to the nearest hospital. The bus driver has been taken into custody by the police and investigation is underway.

Police reached the spot

Senior Inspector Balasaheb Pawar of Bhandup Police Station said that the forensic team and police have reached the spot. According to initial information from BMC, the bus collided with the passengers while reversing. As soon as information about the accident was received, fire brigade, police, BEST employees and ambulance reached the spot. This bus is said to be an electric bus of Olectra company.

There was an accident earlier also

This accident happened exactly a year after a BEST bus hit several people and vehicles in Kurla in December 2024. 9 people died and 37 were injured in that accident.

Due to this new accident, questions have again started being raised regarding the safety of BEST buses in the city. The police are investigating the entire incident.
