In The New Year The Poor Will Receive The Keys To Their Flats Chief Minister Rekha Gupta
The Delhi government is taking concrete steps towards providing not only housing but also a dignified and convenient life to the economically weaker section (EWS) people of the capital. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has said that the process of handing over the keys of their flats to poor families will be started from the New Year. Along with this, a clear roadmap has been prepared to complete the incomplete facilities in the EWS colonies of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB).
The Chief Minister said that the aim of the government is not just to fulfill its responsibility by building houses, but to ensure that the poor and deprived sections get all the basic facilities related to education, health, sanitation, water supply, green areas and employment. The overall development of large EWS colonies like Savada Ghevra is the top priority of the government.
He informed that Savada Ghevra EWS Residential Colony has been developed in an area of approximately 37.81 acres, where 7,620 residential units were constructed between 2012 and 2020. Of these, 6,476 flats are currently vacant and most of the flats need repair due to neglect by previous governments. However, there is 100 percent sewerage network in the colony.
According to the Chief Minister, 39 parks, tanks and booster stations for water supply, and slopes for solid waste management have been built in the colony. Several facilities are under construction, including schools, dispensaries, shopping centers and local employment infrastructure.
He said that Rs 27.50 crore has been sanctioned for the repair of 2,500 vacant flats. It is expected that the allotment of flats equipped with amenities will start from next year, while the remaining flats will be renovated in the next phase.
