BPSC AEDO exam postponed, 9.7 lakh candidates got a big shock… Know the reason

Patna : Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has decided to postpone the Assistant Education Development Officer (AEDO) recruitment examination. This examination was to be conducted between January 10 and January 16, 2026, but now the Commission has postponed it citing unavoidable reasons. After this decision, an atmosphere of confusion and anxiety is being seen among lakhs of candidates. It has been clarified by the Commission that the new dates of the examination will be announced later through the official website.

Reason not clear in official notice
Let us tell you that no concrete reason has been given for the postponement of the examination in the notification issued by BPSC. The notice only says that the written (objective) competitive examination of AEDO to be held under Advertisement No. 87/2025 is being postponed due to unavoidable reasons. Due to such vague information, many kinds of speculations are being made among the candidates. However, the Commission has assured that information about new exam dates will be shared in time.

Involved in the biggest recruitment examinations of the state
This recruitment of Assistant Education Development Officer has become one of the biggest examinations of Bihar so far. About 9.7 lakh candidates had applied for this recruitment. Earlier, Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE) and Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) were considered the biggest examinations, in which around 6 lakh and 4.7 lakh applications were received respectively. Due to the participation of such a large number of candidates, conducting this examination is being considered a big administrative challenge for the Commission as well.
