Bollywood actor Arshad Warsi married Maria Goretti in 1996. Arshad is Muslim while his wife is Catholic. Recently, she revealed that her in-laws were against this marriage.
In an interview, Arshad told that when Maria’s parents came to know about their relationship, they became worried. But everything changed with time.

Arshad said that Maria’s parents had problems with this interfaith marriage. He had hoped that his daughter would marry a Catholic boy. Arshad said that his parents were worried that an unemployed Muslim boy would not be a good match for their daughter.

Arshad told that their love story started in Xavier College, where they had gone for a competition. Their friendship deepened when Maria started working with him in theatre. However, Maria refused him several times before saying yes.
