New Delhi. The Supreme Court on Monday stayed the Delhi High Court’s decision to grant bail to rape convict Kuldeep Singh Sengar. After the hearing, the bench headed by CJI Surya Kant issued a notice to Kuldeep Singh Sengar and sought his reply. The Supreme Court also said during the hearing that Kuldeep Singh Sengar is in jail in another case. The situation is strange.

According to news channel Aaj Tak, during the hearing, Kuldeep Singh Sengar’s lawyers told CJI Surya Kant that the photographs of the Delhi High Court judges who granted bail to Kuldeep Sengar are being made viral on social media with the request to identify these judges. When Sengar’s lawyer said this, CJI Surya Kant called it unfortunate. CJI said that we know that people are trying to take political advantage of this case. CJI Surya Kant said that do not try to intimidate or threaten the system. He said in a strict tone that these things cannot be brought on the road. Argue within the court, not outside.

Delhi High Court had recently granted bail to Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who was convicted of rape. However, Kuldeep Sengar has been sentenced separately in the case of murder of the victim’s father. In that case, he has filed a petition before the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. For this reason, Kuldeep Sengar has not been released from Tihar Jail yet in the rape case. A girl from Makhi village of Unnao, UP had accused Kuldeep Singh Sengar and others of rape in the year 2017. The victim says that he was 16 years old at that time. After the uproar in this matter, a CBI investigation was conducted. After the CBI investigation, the case went to Delhi. The trial court of Delhi had convicted Kuldeep Singh Sengar and sentenced him.
