Estranged wife alleges third-party involvement

Sannia Ashfaq, the estranged wife of Pakistan cricketer Imad Wasim, has spoken publicly about the breakdown of their marriage.

Presenting her side of the story, she described it as deeply painful and damaging for her children.

In an Instagram post shared on Sunday night, Sannia said she had tried for years to hold her family together, despite ongoing difficulties.

She claimed the marriage finally collapsed after the involvement of a “third party” who, she alleged, wanted to marry Wasim.

“My home has been broken, and my children have been left without their father,” she wrote, adding that one of her children is a five-month-old baby “who has not yet been held by his father”.

Sannia further said she remained committed as both a wife and a mother, even as the relationship became fragile.

She described emotional distress and abandonment during pregnancy, saying she chose silence for the sake of her children and the dignity of her home.

Her post came around two hours after Wasim announced the divorce himself, citing long-standing and unresolved conflicts.

The former ODI captain asked for privacy and warned against  “misleading narratives”, saying he would take legal action over defamation. He also stated that he would continue to care for his children.

Sannia, however, said the matter is still legally contested and insisted that the truth would come out through proper channels.

She also claimed to have documented evidence to support her allegations and said she had been threatened to stay silent.

Framing her decision to speak out as a moral stand, she said she was not acting out of revenge.

“I speak today not out of vengeance, but out of truth,” she wrote, adding that she hoped her voice would matter for other women who are told to endure quietly.

Imad Wasim and Sannia Ashfaq married in Islamabad in 2019 after meeting in London.
