Russia on Monday accused Ukraine of trying to attack President Vladimir Putin’s official residence in Novgorod.

According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, Ukraine attacked with 91 drones on the night of 28 and 29 December, which was foiled by Russia’s air defense system. Lavrov warned that the attack would be responded to. He termed this attack as terrorism.

On the other hand, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called this allegation completely false and fabricated. He said that Russia is looking for an excuse to attack us. Its aim is to attack government buildings in Kiev.

However, it is not clear whether Putin was at his Novgorod home at the time of the attack or not. At present, no video of the attack has been released by Russia.

Lavrov said that the attempt to attack Putin’s house was foiled.

Zelensky said – created a story to attack us

Ukrainian President Zelensky said that the story of the attack on Putin’s house was created only to attack and justify Kiev.

Zelensky posted on X that Russia itself is refusing to take the necessary steps to end the war, while Ukraine has always stuck to the diplomatic path. He said,

We will not allow the world to remain silent and Russia to undermine efforts for lasting peace.

Ukraine also said that Russia had earlier also targeted Kiev and the Council of Ministers buildings using pretexts.

Zelensky posted on X calling Russia’s allegations false.

Russian minister said – time and target of counterattack decided

Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said that after the attack on Putin’s official residence, Russia has set the time and goals for the counterattack on Ukraine. He said that Russia will protect its reputation.

According to Russia’s foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov, Putin informed Trump about the Ukraine attack over the phone on Monday. President Trump was shocked by this news.

The news of the attack has come when on Sunday Zelensky and Trump had a 3-hour long meeting in Florida to end the war.

Trump hosted a luncheon for Zelensky at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Zelensky said- America proposed 15 years security guarantee

Zelensky said on Monday that America has proposed to give a 15-year security guarantee to Ukraine under the peace plan. However, Zelensky says America’s guarantee of up to 50 years will send a strong message to prevent Russia from attacking again.

Zelensky said that Ukraine and Russia are the closest to a peace agreement so far, but negotiations are still stuck on many important issues.

According to the Ukrainian President, the biggest hurdle in the talks is whose army will withdraw from which area and what will be the future of the Zaporozhye nuclear plant occupied by Russia. It is one of the 10 largest nuclear plants in the world.

Zelensky said, this war cannot truly end without security guarantees. He said that the proposed guarantee includes provisions like monitoring of the peace agreement and presence of partner countries.

However, Russia has already made it clear that it will not accept the deployment of forces of NATO countries in Ukraine.
