Doubts loom over Gulácsi’s future at RB Leipzig

The Hungarian goalkeeper is hoping to get clarity on whether his future remains with RB Leipzig or requires a route elsewhere.

With his contract expiring in summer of 2026, doubts continue to hang over Peter Gulácsi’s future at RB Leipzig.

No extension has yet materialized, although both parties are open to continuing their collaboration beyond the summer.

Gulácsi himself supposedly wants clarity soon about what will happen after the current 2025-26 comes to an end.

Therefore, according to BILD, sporting director Marcel Schäfer intends to begin talks with the 35-year-old during the training camp in January.

Should an agreement unexpectedly fail to materialize, numerous interested parties are reportedly ready to pounce.

The popular German tabloid notes that several clubs from the Premier League, Serie A, and the Bundesliga have Gulácsi on their shortlist.

From January 1st, the shot-stopper is legally permitted to negotiate with other clubs without the explicit consent of his current employer.

Unsurprisingly, Gulácsi is once again among the best goalkeepers in the Bundesliga this season, with 7 clean sheets after 15 games.

It would be in the best interests of Leipzig to keep Gulácsi given his form, but Marten Vandervoort is also pushing to be first-choice.
