Big decision of Rekha Gupta government, poor will get houses; Keys of 6,476 EWS flats built in Savada Ghevra will be handed over soon.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that 6,476 poor families of the capital will soon be handed over the keys of EWS flats built in Savda Ghevra. The Chief Minister said that Savada Ghevra EWS Residential Colony has been developed on about 37.81 acres of land. According to the CM, a total of 7,620 residential units were constructed in this colony till the year 2020, out of which 6,476 flats are still lying vacant. He alleged that the previous governments did not show interest in settling the poor families in this colony, due to which the condition of most of the flats has become dilapidated and they need repair. The Chief Minister said that after the government repairs these flats and improves the basic facilities, they will be handed over to the eligible poor families so that they can be provided decent housing.

Infrastructure is developing

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the available data makes it clear that Savada Ghevra EWS Colony has sufficient capacity to accommodate the population on a large scale, but for this, time-bound development of necessary social and community facilities is extremely important. He said that now basic facilities are being provided rapidly in this area. The CM said that the government intends to settle poor families in such residential colonies where facilities related to education, health, sanitation, water supply, green areas and livelihood are available together, so that people can have a dignified and secure life.

The Chief Minister said that special attention is being given to the development of community facilities in the existing EWS residential colonies of Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB). He said that keeping in mind the green area and environmental balance, 39 residential parks have been developed in Savada Ghevra, whose total area is more than 22 thousand square meters.

Along with this, to make the water supply permanent and smooth, arrangements have been made here for two underground water tanks, booster station and overhead water tank. The Chief Minister informed that the construction of one of the two primary schools proposed in the colony has been completed, while there is also a proposal to establish a dispensary or hospital so that health facilities can be provided to the local residents.

Flats will be available from next year

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the construction of houses for poor families in Savada Ghevra was started in the year 2012 and its construction work was completed by the year 2020. A total of 7,620 residential units were constructed under this project, out of which 6,476 units are currently lying vacant. The Chief Minister informed that the government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 27.50 crore for the repair of 2,500 of these vacant flats, so that they can be made habitable. He said that the allotment of these flats equipped with all necessary facilities is expected to start from next year, while the repair work of the remaining flats will be taken up in the next phase.
