Tuesday (December 30, 2025) morning in Uttarakhand A bus carrying passengers fell into a deep ravine near Silapani Bhikiyasain in Almora district. A passenger bus lost control and fell into a deep ravine on the Bhikiyasain-Vinayak road. Seven people were killed and many others injured in the accident. The incident caused panic in the area and rescue operations were started immediately.
Where and how did the accident happen?
According to information received, the accident took place near Shilapani on Bhikiyasain-Vinayak-Jalali Motor Road. The bus was going from Bhikiyasain to Ramnagar and left Dwarhat around 6 am. On the way, the bus lost control and fell into a deep ravine. According to preliminary information, six to seven people have died in this accident. There were total 12 passengers in the bus. Many are seriously injured and have been admitted to a nearby hospital in Bhikiyasain. Official confirmation on the number of dead and injured is still awaited.

Rescue operation started
Police, administration and SDRF teams reached the spot as soon as the information about the accident was received. Rescue operations are underway and some people are feared to be still trapped in the bus. Officials of the district administration have also left for the spot. The site is approximately 100 km from the district headquarters. Disaster Officer Vineet Pal said that the relief and rescue operations are going on fast and the injured are being given immediate medical treatment.
