Student caught cheating in exam commits suicide by jumping from 12th floor
A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in Bagru area of Jaipur, where a 19-year-old student, who was under mental pressure after being caught cheating during the college exam, committed suicide by jumping from the 12th floor of an under-construction building. The deceased has been identified as Priyanshu Raj, who was originally from Patna and Manipal University I was a first year computer science student. He was studying while living in a college hostel.
According to the police, Priyanshu was caught cheating during the examination. On this the college administration confiscated his answer sheet and notes. After this incident he went into deep mental stress. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the incident of being caught in the examination broke him from within, due to which he took this suicidal step. This case presents a serious picture of the pressure and fear associated with cheating in exams (College Exam Cheating Case).
Police Station Officer Rajendra Kumar Godara said that after the incident, the student rented a scooter and reached an under-construction building located about five kilometers from the college. There he went up to the 12th floor and kept his bag and mobile near the wall before jumping. The workers working on the building informed the police after hearing the loud noise.
The student was taken to the nearest health center in critical condition, where doctors declared him dead. Police recovered the student’s bag and mobile from the 12th floor. During search of the bag, identity documents along with poison and a bottle of water were also found.
Police are investigating the matter from all aspects and information is also being collected from the college administration. This incident raises serious questions on exam pressure, competition and mental health issues, which need to be considered with sensitivity by the society and educational institutions.
