Mukesh Kumar and Mohammed Shami wreak havoc on Chandigarh, thrilling win for Bengal

Fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who is out of the Indian cricket team, is showing strength in the Vijay Hazare Trophy these days. By taking 3 wickets against Chandigarh in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Mohammed Shami has once again proved that he still has the fire in him and like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, he too can be a contender for the ODI Cricket World Cup. Bengal defeated Chandigarh by 6 wickets on Monday, thanks to the brilliant century of opener batsman Abhishek Porel and the neat bowling of Mohammed Shami. Chandigarh captain Manan Vohra also scored a century but his century was overshadowed by Abhishek Porel’s century. With this win, Bengal has won 2 out of 3 matches so far and has 8 points. At the same time, Chandigarh has lost all its three matches.

 

In this match played in Rajkot on Monday, Bengal team won the toss but relying on bowlers like Mohammed Shami and Mukesh Kumar, it decided to bowl first. On one hand, captain Manan Vohra had just taken the lead when in the 7th over, Mohammed Shami took the first wicket by bowling Arjun Azad with his well-timed ball. On the score of 99 runs, Arsalan Khan was caught by Shahbaz Ahmed. After this Mukesh Kumar’s fame started. Another half-century partnership followed but Taranpreet Singh was dismissed by Mohammed Shami. After this, Mukesh Kumar gave a big blow to the team by bowling out Nikhil Thakur and Jagjit Singh. Mohammed Shami dismissed Nishank Birla in the 49th over. In this match, Mukesh Kumar took 5 wickets for 59 runs and Mohammed Shami took 3 wickets for 69 runs in 10 overs. Shahbaz Ahmed got 2 wickets.

Bengal had a total target of 320 runs. Bengal team made a fast start and scored 88 runs in just 10 overs. Captain Abhimanyu Easwaran was out after scoring 25 runs on the first ball of the 11th over. At the other end, Abhishek Porel’s bat kept roaring. Sudeep Kumar, who came one down, was also out after scoring only 17 runs. Anustup Majumdar provided excellent support to Abhishek Porel by playing a half-century innings. Abhishek Porel, who was out after completing his century in the 29th over itself, scored 106 runs in 84 balls with the help of 12 fours and 2 sixes.

Shahbaz Ahmed once again performed all-round and after taking 2 wickets in bowling, he scored 76 runs on 61 balls and took his team to victory.
