Delhi: When Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Industries Group bought an IPL team, there were generally two types of reactions in the business world. Firstly, they are unnecessarily leaving their work and jumping into cricket. Secondly, Mukesh Ambani has given a project to his wife so that she can also remain busy. Both these assumptions proved wrong and cricket occupies a special place in the group’s portfolio and their sports company, Reliance Strategic Business Ventures Limited, is one of the most profitable companies of the group. Now MI has become a complete cricket family, which has 7 teams and together they have won 13 franchise titles. Officially in Reliance, this team is called ‘One Family’.

Now another team has joined the group. The partnership of Oval Invincibles franchise in The Hundred tournament with Surrey County Cricket Club was already announced but now all the formalities have been completed and the team is legally a part of the group. From 2026, both the men’s and women’s teams will play under the name of MI London, not their previous name. However, Oval Invincibles is the most successful team in the history of The Hundred and has won 5 titles in 5 years (women’s team 2 + men’s team 3). Homegrown Surrey stars like Sam and Tom Curran, Will Jacks and Ellis Capsey as well as Marijne Kapp, Rashid Khan and Adam Zampa play for the team.

The MI family now has a total of 7 teams in 5 countries and 4 continents. The team has won 13 league titles so far, almost 18 years since joining the MI family, and are the most successful franchise in global T20 leagues: 5 IPL titles, 2 WPL titles, 2 Major League Cricket titles, 2 Champions League T20 titles and one each ILT20 (MI Emirates, 2024) and SA20 (MI Cape Town, 2025). If we don’t count the newly arrived MI London, every team in the family now has a winning trophy. While teams in other franchise leagues have been yearning for a win for years, the teams of this family are creating new winning records.
We consider it a great achievement to join the family, especially a team based in London, and with this we are taking the legacy of the MI family to new heights. The year 2025 was a special achievement and the MI family of teams won 5 playoffs, 3 championship trophies in 3 continents.
