Easy ways to tighten the rubber of pressure cooker
Due to loose rubber of cooker
We usually use cooker in the kitchen to cook vegetables. But when instead of the pressure cooker whistling, gas starts coming out from the sides, it is very disappointing. This problem occurs when the rubber of the cooker becomes loose. This situation arises due to cracks or expansion in rubber. When the rubber is loose, pressure is not created, which takes more time to cook and wastes gas. In such a situation, people often buy a new pressure cooker, but with some home remedies you can tighten your old rubber in just 10 minutes.
Why does rubber become loose?
When rubber is exposed to heat, its elasticity decreases and it begins to expand. The grease accumulated on the rubber does not allow it to sit properly on the lid, due to which it is not able to stick properly all around the cooker.
Ways to tighten loose rubber
To tighten the rubber, first remove the rubber from the cooker lid and clean it thoroughly to remove grease. Then fill a deep vessel with ice or cold water and immerse the rubber in it for 10 minutes. If you don’t want to do this trick, you can place the rubber directly in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes. Due to cold, rubber molecules start shrinking, due to which it returns to its old shape. If the rubber is a little old and a little loose, you can apply a little dough to the edge of the lid, which will act as a temporary tape and prevent gas from escaping.
Rubber Care Tips
Keep in mind that never keep the rubber in sunlight. Don’t forget to remove the rubber and clean it after cooking. Apart from this, apply a little edible oil on the rubber, so that its flexibility remains. If the rubber is cut, replace it immediately.
