For whom is linking mandatory?
According to the rules, it is mandatory for every person who comes under income tax to link Aadhaar-PAN. In particular, those whose PAN card was issued through Aadhaar number before October 1, 2024, will have to complete this process. How to link PAN to Aadhaar at home
- First of all the official website of Income Tax Department

- Now a new page will open, where you will have to enter your PAN number, Aadhaar number and mobile number.
- After this, an OTP will come on your registered mobile, fill it and click on the ‘Verify’ button.
- Once the verification is successful, your PAN and Aadhaar will be linked.
How to check whether your PAN is linked or not?
If you are confused whether your PAN is already linked or not, it is very easy to check the status. For this, use the e-filing portal ‘Quick Links’ go to section ‘Link Aadhaar Status’ Click on. Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number. If linking is done, you will see ‘Green Tick’, otherwise pending message will be shown.
Why did CBDT take this tough decision?
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) aims to bring transparency and accountability in the tax system. Even before this, its deadline has been extended several times. Let us tell you that initially the last date was 30 June 2023, which was extended to 31 May 2024. Now time has been given till 31st December. Those who miss this deadline may also have to pay a late fine of up to Rs 1,000. Therefore, complete this process today without any delay.
