17 year old G Kamalini of Tamil Nadu made her T20 debut against Sri Lanka.

New Delhi: The final match of the ongoing 5-match T-20 series between the women’s teams of India and Sri Lanka is being held in Thiruvananthapuram. In this match, Tamil Nadu’s young talent G Kamalini started her international career. 17-year-old Kamalini became the 90th female cricketer to play T20 International for India when she took the field in the fifth and final match of the series against Sri Lanka.

Kamalini is a left-handed wicketkeeper batsman and she also has the skill of leg-spin bowling. He is from the famous Super Kings Academy. Last year, he caught everyone’s attention when he scored 311 runs in eight matches in the Under-19 domestic tournaments. He made the highest score of 79 runs for India B in the Under-19 Tri-Series final against South Africa A.

Winner of Under-19 Women’s World Cup

Kamalini got a place in the Indian team earlier this year, which won the Under-19 Women’s World Cup under the captaincy of Nikki Prasad. She scored 143 runs in 7 matches in the tournament and was the third highest run scorer. His best performance against England in the semi-finals was his unbeaten 56, which he did in 50 balls.

Along with becoming the world champion, Kamalini created a stir in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 player auction. Expressing confidence in him, Mumbai Indians signed this teenager for a huge sum of Rs 1.60 crore.

Youngest player to debut in WPL

In February 2025, Kamalini held the prestigious title of becoming the youngest debutant in the history of the Women’s Premier League. He played his first match against Gujarat Giants in Vadodara. At the age of 16 years and 213 days, she also became the youngest player to play for all five T20 franchise teams of Mumbai Indians. He played 9 matches for the franchise in WPL 2025 and scored a total of 32 runs.

Earlier this year, Kamalini also top-scored for Tamil Nadu in the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy. While opening the batting, he scored 297 runs at a strike rate of 110, which was the sixth highest score in this tournament. On Tuesday, she was included in India’s playing XI for the fifth T20 International against Sri Lanka in place of Smriti Mandhana.
