India’s global leap in AI: Rs 10,300 crore IndiaAI Mission

New Delhi, 30 December 2025 : India is currently on the cusp of a new era of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the government will spend Rs. 10,000 for the next five years under ‘IndiaAI Mission’. A budget of more than Rs 10,300 crore has been allocated. Under this mission, 38,000 GPUs (Graphic Processing Units) have been deployed so far, the main objective of which is to make India self-reliant in the AI ​​sector.

According to the government statement, the purpose of this mission is not only to develop technology, but also to use AI in areas like agriculture, health, education and good governance to provide its benefits to the common citizens. Research, skill development and entrepreneurship are being given impetus through programs like ‘Digital Shram Setu’.

  • AI will prove to be a game-changer for the economy

The annual revenue of the Indian tech industry is expected to exceed $280 billion this year. According to experts, currently about 60 lakh people are employed in the tech and AI sector. It is estimated that by the year 2035, AI can contribute 1.7 trillion dollars to the Indian economy. In Stanford University’s ‘2025 Global AI Vibrancy’ report, India has been ranked third in the global AI competition.

More than 1.8 lakh startups are currently operating in India. The special thing is that 89% of new startups started last year have used AI in their services. There are more than 1,800 Global Capability Centers in the country, of which more than 500 are focused solely on AI.

According to NASSCOM index, about 87% of Indian companies are actively adopting AI solutions. Especially in banking, insurance, automobile and healthcare sectors, the prevalence of AI is increasing rapidly. About 26% of Indian companies are now fully equipped to implement AI technology on a large scale. The government believes that all these efforts will make India a global AI leader and provide a strong foundation to realize the vision of ‘Developed India 2047’.
