Sachin Tendulkar’s great record is in danger at the hands of Virat Kohli, he will create history as soon as he scores so many runs.

Virat Kohli Only 25 Runs Away From History: Team India’s star batsman Virat Kohli is once again close to writing his name in golden letters in cricket history. This time his eyes are on a special record of Sachin Tendulkar.

In the three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting from January 11, Virat Kohli can break a record which till now is in the name of only two great batsmen. Virat is just 25 runs away from completing 28,000 runs in international cricket, and as soon as he achieves this milestone, history will be made.

Only 25 runs needed to create history

Currently, Virat Kohli has 27,975 runs in his name in international cricket, which he has scored in 623 innings. As soon as he scores 25 runs, he will cross the mark of 28 thousand runs and will become the third batsman in the world to do so. Before this, only Sachin Tendulkar and Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara have achieved this feat.

Kolhi will surpass Sachin in this record

Not only this, with this achievement Virat Kohli will also make another record of Sachin Tendulkar in his name. Sachin had completed 28,000 runs in 644 innings, whereas Virat will achieve this feat about 20 innings before him. In this way Kohli will become the fastest batsman to score 28,000 runs in international cricket. Kumar Sangakkara had completed 28,000 runs in the last innings of his career.

Virat Kohli’s dominance continues in ODI cricket

Virat Kohli is currently active only in ODI format, but his figures can still create fear for any bowler. In ODI cricket, he has scored 14,557 runs in 308 matches, which includes 53 centuries and 76 half-centuries. In Test cricket, he had scored 9,230 runs in 123 matches and surprised everyone by suddenly retiring in May 2025. Virat’s record in T20 International has also been excellent. He scored 4,188 runs in 125 matches and retired from this format after winning the T20 World Cup 2024.
