Cristiano Ronaldo eyes 1,000 goals after winning Globe Soccer Award
Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a clear message to the football world: he is not finished yet. At the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards held this week, the 40-year-old superstar was named the Best Middle East Player, using the stage to reaffirm his relentless pursuit of 1,000 career goals.
The Portuguese icon recently reached a staggering 956 goals after netting a brace for Al-Nassr against Al Akhdoud. This feat marked the 14th time in his career he has scored 40 or more goals in a single calendar year.
Despite his age, Ronaldo told the audience in Dubai that his hunger remains as sharp as ever.
“It’s hard to continue playing but I am motivated. My passion is high and I want to continue,” Ronaldo stated.
“You know what my goal is. I want to win trophies and I want to reach that number that you all know. I will reach the number for sure, if no injuries, Insha’Allah.”

With 44 goals left to reach the four-digit mark, the “Road to 1,000” has become a global phenomenon. Fans are flooding social media with countdown trackers and montages celebrating his longevity.
Currently leading the Saudi Pro League title charge and preparing for a final World Cup run in 2026, Ronaldo appears more determined than ever to cement his legacy as the greatest goalscorer in history.
