Ind W vs SLW: The visiting team has a clean sweep…. Shefali was the player of the series
New Delhi. The Indian Women’s Cricket Team did wonders in the five-match home T20 series against Sri Lanka. India wiped out the visiting team. This was India’s first series after winning the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. India has won the series 5-0 for the third time in Women’s T20 International cricket. Opening batsman Shafali Verma was successful in winning the Player of Series Award (POTS). However, Shefali could not perform well in the last match. He scored only 5 runs in 6 balls on the ground in Thiruvananthapuram. India defeated Sri Lanka by 15 runs after scoring 175/7 in this match.
What did Shefali say after winning the POTS Award?
21-year-old Shefali said after winning the Player of the Series award, “I have worked hard throughout the year, which has paid off. I am very happy that whatever I worked on, I have been successful in doing. However, the way I got out in the fifth match by playing bad shots, I would not like to repeat it. I want to contribute more for the team. My aim is to play long innings and become a better player every day.” On shifting from ODI to T20 mode, the opener said, “Both are very different. In ODI you have to play on the ground because it is a longer format. T20 is my favourite. I enjoy it more.”
