Bangalore Businessman Frustrated With Tax System: Rohit Shroff, living in Bengaluru, is very worried these days. The reason is not any loss, not any scam, but the same system in which they are working honestly. Rohit runs a business. He has given about Rs 4 crore as tax to the government in the last one-and-a-half years. GST and Income Tax also. Everything on time. Papers complete. Still the trouble did not end. Rohit says that there is no peace even after paying tax. Sometimes a notice comes, sometimes a question comes. It seems as if every time he has to prove himself again that he did not commit any mistake.

Rohit wrote this on LinkedIn. He clearly said that the most pressure is on those people who follow the rules.
He says, “Those who pay taxes honestly are the ones who come under investigation again and again. It seems as if the system does not trust us.”

According to them, even after paying taxes, the businessman is viewed with suspicion. Every time there is this fear that when will the next notice come.

Rohit says that doing business in India is no longer as easy as before. More time is spent on papers, answers and clarifications than on hard work.

He wrote that the number of tax payers is still small, but the entire burden has been put on them. This is discouraging people who want to move forward in the right way.

Decision to leave India by 2026

After continuous pressure and tension, Rohit has taken a big decision. He has said that he is preparing to leave India by 2026 and do his business in some other country. He says that this decision was not taken out of anger. Now it seems that it is becoming difficult to live and work here.

Rohit made it clear that leaving the country does not mean hating the country. He wrote, “This is not an issue of patriotism. This is the truth. When the system does not support, the person becomes helpless.”

Rohit’s matter is not just his. Many small and medium businessmen also feel the same. The only difference is that most people are not able to speak openly. They consider it their responsibility to pay taxes, but repeated investigations, notices and pressure break them from within.
