UP Year Ender: 2025 proved to be the golden year of labor welfare, employment and industrial expansion in the state.
Lucknow, Read: The year 2025 was a historic and transformative year from the point of view of the Labor Department and labor welfare of Uttar Pradesh. The Labor and Employment Department not only gave a new direction to protect the interests of the workers, but also made an important contribution to the goal of taking the state’s economy to one trillion dollars. The year 2025 was also special because in this year four labor codes were notified by the Government of India, which are being considered as a milestone in the direction of labor interests.
The direct result of the government’s policies and reforms was that a large number of new factories were established and registered continuously in the state. Registration of factories will more than double by 2025 as compared to the last eight years, thereby creating new employment opportunities and strengthening the industrial environment. Especially for women workers, the year 2025 opened doors to new opportunities and provided them with more secure and empowering working conditions.
The Labor Department took a historic step to make the hearing of pending cases under Labor Acts simple, transparent and speedy. On 26 August 2025, Shram Nyay Setu, Labor e Court platform was launched. This portal not only exemplified paperless governance but was also awarded in the Paperless Governance Champion category at the 19th National Digital Transformation Awards 2025.
Uttar Pradesh Employment Mission was formed with the aim of providing employment to the youth of the state. Under this, not only domestic but also foreign employment opportunities were promoted. 5 recruitment agencies registered with Rojgar Sangam portal were added, giving new impetus to international placements. Rozgar Mahakumbh was organized at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, where selection and placement of more than 16,000 youth took place.
Innovation in Employees’ State Insurance Scheme
Arogya Manthan program was organized in Kanpur on 11 December with the aim of providing better health services to the insured workers. On this occasion, QR code enabled ‘Microsoft Arogya Shakti Abhiyan’ was launched, Arogya Sankalp Patra was released and AAA app was launched. Through the app, workers will now be able to get appointments, delivery of medicines and all medical test records digitally while sitting at home. Apart from this, initiatives were also taken to implement the best practices of ESIC Premier Institutions of Chennai, Hyderabad and Faridabad in Uttar Pradesh.
New initiative for workers
Many innovations were made by the Board for the welfare of construction workers. Under this, a mobile medical unit for onsite free health check-up was launched on 23 December 2025. In the first phase, a target has been set for health check-up of 10,000 workers. Apart from this, 360 degree live monitoring command center was established to monitor Atal Residential Schools operating in 18 districts of the state.
