‘Carelessness can no longer be tolerated…’, CM Mohan Yadav said on the disease spread due to contaminated water in Indore, blame fell on PHE and Municipal Corporation officials
New Delhi:Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has taken very seriously the incident of citizens falling ill due to contaminated water supply in Bhagirathpura area of Indore. Taking immediate strict action on this negligence, many officials related to water supply have been suspended.
Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, the administration has come into action. A committee of senior officers has been formed to investigate the matter, so that the responsibility of the culprits can be fixed and such incidents are not repeated in future.
Strict action on negligence
In this entire matter, the zonal officer of zone number 4, the assistant engineer of the Public Health Engineering Department (PHE) and the assistant engineer in charge have been suspended with immediate effect. At the same time, the sub-engineer in-charge of PHE has been separated from service. The government has made it clear that any kind of negligence related to public health will not be tolerated.
Chief Minister’s clear message
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that the state government has taken the incident of citizens getting infected due to contaminated water in Bhagirathpura area very seriously. He said in clear words that strict action will be taken against those who play with people’s health. In this sequence, an investigation committee of senior officers has been constituted to investigate the entire matter in depth.
What is the whole matter?
Preliminary investigation has revealed that leakage was found in the main water supply line of Bhagirathpura area. This leakage was in the main pipeline located below the toilet adjacent to a post. Due to this, there was a possibility of contaminated water getting into the pipeline and the problem of supply of dirty water in the area arose, due to which many citizens got infected.
Municipal Corporation’s prompt action
Expressing grief over the incident, Indore Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dilip Kumar Yadav said that the Municipal Corporation has been working actively at every level since morning. On his instructions, repair work has been started immediately at the leakage site.
Necessary investigation before restoration of water supply
Municipal Corporation Commissioner said that after the completion of the improvement work, first of all flushing of the pipeline, chlorination and testing of water samples will be done. Water supply will be restarted in the area only after the lab report is completely satisfactory. He bluntly said that no compromise will be made with public health and such negligence will not be allowed to be repeated in future.
