Tension between Saudi Arabia and UAE, how serious is the conflict between the two countries?
Tension is increasing this month between the two most powerful countries of the Gulf – Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates i.e. UAE. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) made an announcement on Tuesday evening, after which it is being speculated that the tension may subside. Despite this, conflicts came to the fore in the geopolitical ambitions of both the countries. The UAE Defense Ministry has issued a statement saying that it will also end its remaining military presence in Yemen. The UAE Defense Ministry said in its statement, “We have been a part of the Arab Coalition since 2015 and have been supporting the legitimate government in Yemen. The UAE Army had completed its main military operations in Yemen in 2019 and had returned back. Some soldiers were left there to keep the extremist forces in check. But in view of the current developments, the Defense Ministry plans to withdraw the remaining soldiers as well.” Is demanding.

Before this statement of UAE, Arab had quoted Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council as saying that UAE should withdraw all its forces from Yemen within twenty-four hours and stop providing military and economic support to any group there. After which, in its first reaction, UAE strongly condemned these allegations. The UAE said that it never instigated any group in Yemen to take military action against Saudi Arabia. The statement said, “The UAE is committed to the security and stability of Saudi Arabia and fully respects the sovereignty and national security of the country. But no consignment of weapons was being unloaded at the port of Maqulla. The vehicles that were unloaded there were not for any Yemeni group but for the use of UAE forces operating in Yemen.”
This was discussed at a high level with Saudi Arabia, yet they attacked, which was very shocking. The relations between the two countries are old and strong. Our objective was always to help the legitimate government in Yemen and fight terrorism. This matter needs to be resolved responsibly so that peace is maintained in the region and the crisis in Yemen ends soon.
onset of recent stress
Last Tuesday, Saudi Arabia carried out an airstrike on Yemen’s port city of Mukalla. Saudi Arabia said that these attacks were carried out because with the help of UAE, a consignment of weapons was being delivered to this port for the ‘Southern Transitional Council’ (STC). The ‘Southern Transitional Council’ is considered a UAE-backed group and this group demands making southern Yemen a separate country. The group had captured important cities in the south-eastern region of Yemen such as Hadramaut, al-Mahra and oil reserves in the early weeks of December. The Saudi Foreign Ministry claims that STC did this at the behest and pressure of the UAE. The statement said that these areas are strategically important and instability here is a serious threat not only to the security of Saudi Arabia, but also to the unity of Yemen and the stability of the entire region. But what is this STC and why does Saudi Arabia consider it a threat to its security?
