According to Cricbuzz, before the ODI series against New Zealand, Shubhaman Gill, KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja are going to be seen playing at least two matches of Vijay Hazare Trophy for their state team. These players have informed their state associations about their availability for the tournament to fulfill their domestic commitments. Gill, the Indian Test and ODI captain, is expected to play in the January 3 and 6 matches for Punjab, who will play Sikkim and Goa in Jaipur on those days.

After playing two matches in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Gill will soon have to leave the state team to join the Indian team, which is expected to assemble for the first ODI (January 11) against New Zealand in Baroda on January 7-8. Let us tell you that Gill is away from the cricket field after suffering a neck injury in the first Test of South Africa. In such a situation, these two matches can prove helpful to them in regaining their rhythm.

The report further states that Ravindra Jadeja has told the Saurashtra Cricket Association (SCA) that he will play the matches against Services and Gujarat on January 6 and 8. Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has not confirmed which matches Rahul will play, but sources have revealed that he may play matches against Tripura and Rajasthan in Ahmedabad on January 3 and 6.

Let us tell you that BCCI has made it mandatory for all players to play in Vijay Hazare Trophy. In this tournament, big faces from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli to Rishabh Pant are playing for their state. But, BCCI has given exemption to Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah is a special case as the BCCI is avoiding putting too much workload on the country’s premier bowler.
