Divine sight in Ujjain: Grand decoration of Mahakal Dham with 11 thousand Damru, 5 lakh Rudraksh.

In many cities of the country, New Year is celebrated with parties, music and fireworks, but in the capital Ujjain, New Year has a different meaning. Here the first morning of the year begins with darshan, aarti and devotion of the Lord. This is the reason that as the night of 31st December ends, the noise of devotees in the temples of Ujjain increases.

English New Year 2026 will also be celebrated in Ujjain as per Sanatan tradition. Special decorations, darshan arrangements and extensive arrangements are being made for the convenience of the devotees in Jyotirling Mahakaleshwar temple including Kalbhairav, Mangalnath, Chintaman Ganesh, Gadhkalika and Chamunda Mata temples. This time the decoration of Mahakal temple has become a topic of discussion in the entire country.

Grand preparations for new year in Mahakal temple

On the occasion of New Year, Mahakal Temple is being given a wonderful and spiritual look. According to the temple management, this time Shri Mahakal Mahalok and the temple premises will be decorated with 11 thousand Damru and about five lakh Rudraksh. This decoration is being done by the Damru Foundation Institute of Gujarat, which has earlier been known for its special decorations in religious events. Damru is considered a symbol of Lord Shiva, while Rudraksh is said to be the form of Shiva himself. In such a situation, the Mahakal temple decorated with Damru and Rudraksh will not only be grand to look at, but its spiritual importance will also increase manifold. Devotees believe that having darshan between Rudraksh and Damru brings special virtue.

Special decoration of flowers in the sanctum sanctorum and Nandi Mandapam

The sanctum sanctorum and Nandi Mandapam of the Mahakal temple will also be specially decorated with flowers. Along with traditional floral arrangements, modern lighting is also being used, so that the devotees can experience both divinity and grandeur. The temple committee says that keeping in mind the sentiments of the devotees regarding the first darshan of the new year, no shortage is being maintained in the decoration. When Lord Mahakal is seen in the morning, the entire complex will be seen filled with devotion and positive energy.

Changed entry system for Mahakal Darshan

Keeping in view the possibility of lakhs of devotees reaching Ujjain on New Year, the darshan arrangements in Mahakal temple have been specially prepared. General visitors will be allowed to enter the temple from Triveni Museum gate via Shaktipath road in front of Chardham temple. Red carpet will be laid to welcome the devotees, so that those coming for darshan experience both respect and convenience. The objective of the temple committee is that the devotees can have darshan of Lord Mahakal peacefully without any jostling and chaos.

Extensive arrangements for the convenience of devotees

The convenience of the devotees has been given priority on the New Year in the Mahakal Temple complex. Facilities like shoe stand, drinking water system, laddu prasad counter, lost and found center and first aid have been strengthened. Apart from this, special attention is also being given to the cleanliness system, so that the premises remain clean despite the huge crowd. The temple administration and voluntary organizations will jointly manage the arrangements, so that no devotee faces any problem.
