Bharat Taxi App: In India, Ola and Uber seem to have strengthened their grip on the entire taxi market over the past few years. These two private taxi companies hit the passengers by increasing the fares or sometimes the drivers suffered from higher commissions. But now, this picture may change as the central government is about to launch a new service. From January 1, 2026, the Central Government will launch the ‘Bharat Taxi App’ (Bharat Taxi App) is about to start. Especially, this app is based on cooperative principle and this can bring about an important change in the taxi industry.
What is ‘Bharat Taxi’?
‘Bharat Taxi’ will not be an app of a private company but will be a cooperative model that will run through the participation of drivers. In this model the driver is not just a worker but a visiting partner. These are the things that make Ola more people-oriented than Uber.

Many drivers are unhappy working with Ola-Uber and complain that after deducting 25 to 30 percent commission, they are left with little. The government has made this app keeping this in mind.
- Will keep zero or minimal commission
- Drivers are likely to get 80 to 100 percent share
- In this model, drivers themselves will be partners

Currently, Bharat Taxi will start from Delhi-NCR and then extend the service to major cities like Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur. Currently, even though Ola-Uber has a huge network, it is believed that passengers will like the profitable government app.
‘Bharat Taxi’, which will start from 1st January 2026, will not be just an option but a new experiment in the taxi industry which will bring important and economic relief. Passengers will get cheap and safe travel, drivers will also get respect and rich income.
