Controversy over Mulayam Singh Yadav memorial camp in Magh Mela, fair administration issues notice to Samajwadi Party
digital desk- A new controversy has arisen regarding the camp of Mulayam Singh Yadav Smriti Seva Sansthan in the Magh Mela organized on the sands of Sangam in Prayagraj. The fair administration has issued a notice to the organization raising questions about the religious nature of the camp, after which there has been a stir in administrative and political circles. Additional Fair Officer Dayanand Prasad got the notice pasted outside the institute’s camp on December 30 at around 1 pm. It has been alleged in the notice that activities are being carried out in the camp contrary to religious traditions and beliefs, due to which there is dissatisfaction among the saints and sages present in the Magh Mela. The fair administration says that objection has been raised by the Sant Samaj regarding non-religious activities. In the notice, a clear answer has been sought from the organization as to under which activities the camp is being conducted. Also, instructions have been given that a written reply should be submitted to the fair office within 24 hours of receiving the notice. The administration has also warned that in case of non-response within the stipulated time limit, it will be considered that the organization has nothing to present its stand. In such a situation, advance action will be taken to cancel the allotment of plot number SLE6-31 allotted to the institute.
The institute called the allegations baseless
Director of Mulayam Singh Yadav Smriti Seva Sansthan and senior Samajwadi Party leader Sandeep Yadav has completely rejected the allegations of the fair administration. He said that he has submitted a written reply to the administration within 24 hours of receiving the notice. Sandeep Yadav alleges that the fair administration has failed to show him any written or concrete complaint of any saint. He said that the apprehensions of the administration are completely baseless. Sandeep Yadav told that this camp was organized for the first time in the Mahakumbh of the year 2025, where activities like religious rituals, Bhandara, feeding milk to the devotees and cow rearing were done. He assured that religious traditions and beliefs will be completely followed in the camp.
allegation of political conspiracy
The SP leader has targeted BJP, terming this entire controversy as a political conspiracy. He says that BJP is scared of the popularity of Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and that is why efforts are being made to remove the camp associated with his name. Describing Mulayam Singh Yadav as a socialist thinker and saint, he said that no attempt to remove the camp from Magh Mela will be allowed to succeed.
Sant Samaj also reacted
On the other hand, a statement has also come out from the Sant Samaj. The saints say that they have no objection if religious activities are taking place in the camp. However, he also said that he opposes those activities which involve politicization or promotion of any particular community under the guise of religious event. The saints also commented on SP President Akhilesh Yadav, saying that he himself is a Hindu and a descendant of Lord Krishna, but is misguided. The saints say that the camp should be purely religious and not a platform for politics or any other agenda.
