Cabinet approves Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot six-lane greenfield corridor, PM Modi says – ‘Next-gen infrastructure for growth’
New Delhi, 31 December. On Wednesday, the last day of the year 2025, Modi government gave a big development gift to Maharashtra. The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the construction of the 374-km six-lane greenfield access-controlled Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot corridor. The total cost of this project is Rs 19,142 crore and it will be built on BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) toll mode.
Posting on the social media platform ‘X’, PM Modi wrote, ‘We are creating next-gen infrastructure for growth. The Cabinet has approved the six-lane Nashik-Solapur-Akkalkot Greenfield Corridor in Maharashtra. Under PM Gatishakti, this mega project will significantly reduce travel time, strengthen West to East connectivity, boost logistics and generate large-scale employment, thereby driving economic growth.

Important step towards integrated transport infrastructure development
This project is an important step towards integrated transport infrastructure development under the Pradhan Mantri Gatishakti National Master Plan. The corridor will connect Nashik, Ahilyanagar (Ahmednagar), Dharashiv (Osmanabad) and Solapur districts and will provide further connectivity to Kurnool (Andhra Pradesh). This will give direct connectivity from the west coast to the east coast.

The project will be connected to three expressways
The project will be connected to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway (near Wadhawan Port Interchange), Agra-Mumbai Corridor (at NH-60 Adegaon Junction in Nashik) and Samruddhi Mahamarg (near Pangri, Nashik). About 700 km of four-lane corridor from Chennai port to Hasapur (Maharashtra border) is already under construction, making it part of the complete Surat-Chennai Expressway.

Many benefits will be seen upon completion of the project. These include travel time savings of 17 hours (45 per cent reduction from 31 hours), reduction in travel distance by 201 km, average vehicle speed of 60 km/hr, design speed of 100 km/hr, safe, fast and seamless traffic with closed tolling system, improvement in logistics efficiency, especially for freight movement to NICDC nodes (Kopparthy and Orvakal) and Nashik-Talegaon Dighe section of Pune-Nashik Expressway. Will be completed.
Project 251.06 million direct man-days and 313.83 Will generate employment of lakh indirect man-days
In terms of employment generation, the project will generate employment of 251.06 lakh direct man-days and 313.83 lakh indirect man-days. The increase in economic activities around the corridor will also generate additional employment opportunities. This will strengthen the regional economy, accelerate industrial development and ensure better safety for passenger-cargo vehicles.
