‘As if Putin-Zelensky are talking’, Fadnavis said on coming together with Uddhav-Raj Thackeray

A big change is visible in the politics of Maharashtra. Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray held a joint press conference in Mumbai on Wednesday and announced the alliance for the BMC elections. Both the cousins ​​made this announcement after paying homage at the Samadhi of Bal Thackeray.

 

Raj Thackeray said, ‘Maharashtra was waiting for this day for a long time. Today I announce that Shiv Sena and MNS have united. Uddhav Thackeray said that both the parties have come together for the interest of ‘Marathi manoos’ and Maharashtra. He said, ‘We have come together to live together.’

Alliance formed after 20 years

This alliance has happened after about 20 years. Earlier both were together in undivided Shiv Sena, but in 2006 Raj Thackeray formed a separate party. Now both the parties will fight together in BMC elections. BMC is Asia’s richest municipal corporation, and was previously ruled by the undivided Shiv Sena for 30 years.

 

On this announcement, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis taunted and told the journalists, ‘So much noise is being made as if Russia and Ukraine have united and Zelensky and Putin are talking.’ Fadnavis further said that this alliance of Thackeray brothers is for the fight for their survival. ‘Both parties have lost their identity. People don’t trust him. His vote bank was lost due to appeasement politics. Their unification will have no effect. Both are joining hands to save their existence. The people of Mumbai have seen our development work, that is why Mumbai is and will remain with us. Mahayuti Mumbai will win.

 

 

 

Said- alliance under compulsion

Fadnavis said that this alliance was not based on ideology but due to political compulsion. ‘They have united in a desperate attempt to save their existence. But the people of Maharashtra have seen our work, and on this basis Mahayuti will win. Marathi man will vote for Mahayuti. He further said, ‘I think Uddhav Thackeray is disappointed, whatever he says, don’t pay any attention to him.’

Elections for 29 municipal corporations in Maharashtra are to be held on January 15, 2026. Among these, BMC of Mumbai is the most important. Counting of votes will take place on January 16. The grand alliance (BJP, Shinde Sena and Ajit Pawar’s NCP) is in a strong position in this election, while the opposition is hopeful of the Thackeray alliance.

 

This election can decide the direction of Maharashtra politics. It remains to be seen how much impact this unity of the Thackeray brothers has.
