Central government’s new order on Nimoslide medicine

New ban on Nimoslide medicine

New Delhi. The central government has banned the manufacture and sale of doses of more than 100 mg of the drug Nimoslide, commonly used in the treatment of cough, cold, cough and fever. The Health Ministry has clarified that oral medicines of more than 100 mg have been banned with immediate effect. Nimoslide is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, which is helpful in reducing pain, but there is a risk of liver damage in high doses.

The government has said that only medicines of more than 100 mg have been banned, while medicines of lesser dosage will remain available as before. Apart from this, the companies have been instructed to immediately stop the production of this medicine and have been asked to recall the medicines which are already in the market. This rule has come into effect from December 29. It has been reported that doses more than 100 mg are at risk of liver damage and safer alternatives are also available in the market.
