Salman Khan once offered to work for free in return for Rajesh Khanna’s bungalow, as his younger brother Sohail Khan had set his sights on the property.
In his book, Rumi Jaffery recalled the incident, saying that when he took the offer to Khanna, the actor lashed out at him for even considering it in the first place.
He wrote, “When Khanna finally spoke, he asked how I could even think of suggesting such a thing and accused me of stabbing him in the back.
“Kakaji said, ‘I consider you my son-in-law, and you want to sell my house… you want to bring it out on the road!’”
The book also states that the Elephant Mere Saathi star later berated Sohail for making an offer to buy his beloved house when they crossed paths years later.
The legendary actor held a special attachment to the property, believing that while he might die one day, the house would live on forever.
However, after his death in July 2012, Aashirwad was demolished and replaced by a high-rise building in the years that followed.
