Notably, the selection features no Pakistani cricketers, a decision reflecting a year where the nation’s top stars were often absent from the international T20 circuit due to franchise commitments.
The squad is anchored by a formidable core from India and England, who each boast three representatives.
The Caribbean’s flair is represented by two West Indian power-hitters, while Australia, Afghanistan and South Africa contribute one standout player each to the global XI.
The batting order is a “who’s who” of modern aggression. Opening the innings are Abhishek Sharma, whose season was described as one that “redefined T20I opening,” alongside the fearless Phil Salt.
