New year starts with inflation, commercial LPG cylinder becomes costlier by Rs 111

Delhi. Oil marketing companies have increased the prices of commercial LPG cylinders by a whopping seven percent on the New Year, while there has been no change in the prices of domestic cylinders. According to the website of Indian Oil Corporation, the country’s largest oil marketing company, the price of a 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder in Delhi has become Rs 1,691.50 since Thursday. This is the highest level since June 2025. Its price in December was Rs 1580.50.

Thus its price has increased by Rs 111 (7.02 percent). Earlier, it had become cheaper by Rs 10 in December and by Rs 5 in November. Commercial gas cylinders are used for all non-domestic purposes including hotels, restaurants, dhabas. Prices have been increased by almost the same amount in other metro cities of the country also.

Its prices have increased by Rs 111 in Kolkata and Mumbai.

Now the new price in Kolkata is Rs 1,795

In Mumbai it has become Rs 1,642.50.

Commercial LPG cylinder in Chennai will become costlier by Rs 110 and will be available at Rs 1,849.50 from today.

At the same time, there has been no change in the prices of 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder after 08 April 2025.

Its price in Delhi is Rs 853,

Rs 879 in Kolkata,

Rs 852.50 in Mumbai

It is stable at Rs 868.50 in Chennai.

Oil marketing companies review LPG prices every month. New prices are generally determined on the 1st of every month based on changes in prices in international markets and the exchange rate of the rupee against the dollar.

Aircraft fuel 7% cheaper

Giving major relief to domestic airlines, oil marketing companies have reduced the prices of aviation fuel by about seven percent on the New Year. According to information received from Indian Oil Corporation, the country’s largest oil marketing company, the price of aviation fuel in Delhi has decreased by Rs 7,354 (7.38 percent) to Rs 92,323 per kiloliter since Thursday.

Earlier in December, its price had increased by 5.43 percent. In Kolkata it became cheaper by Rs 6,993 (6.83 percent) to Rs 95,378 per kiloliter and in Mumbai it became cheaper by Rs 6,928 (7.43 percent) to Rs 86,352 per kiloliter.

The price of jet fuel in Chennai has been reduced by Rs 7,532 (7.29 percent) to Rs 95,770 from today. Domestic airlines, which are already facing financial pressure, will benefit from the reduction in aviation fuel prices. 35 to 40 percent of their total expenditure is spent on fuel.
