Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma becomes T20I star… first Indian player to take most wickets
Thiruvananthapuram.All-rounder Deepti Sharma has become the first Indian bowler to take the most wickets in both men’s and women’s international T20. Deepti overtook Megan Shutt’s record of 151 wickets by dismissing Neelakshika Silva in the fifth International T20 played against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. He achieved this feat by taking his 152nd T20 wicket in 133 matches since his debut in 2016.
With this, Deepti left behind the record of Australian fast bowler Megan Shutt. In this list, Pakistan’s Nida Dar is at third place with 144 wickets. Rwanda’s Henriette Ishimwe is fourth with 144 wickets in 117 matches and England’s Sophie Ecclestone is fifth with 142 wickets in 101 matches.
With this achievement, Deepti Sharma is getting closer to Jhulan Goswami’s record of taking most wickets in women’s international cricket. Deepti has a total of 334 wickets (20 in Test, 162 in ODI and 152 in T-20), while Goswami leads with a total of 355 wickets (44 in Test, 255 in ODI, 56 in T-20). England’s Katherine Sciver-Brunt is just ahead of Deepti with 335 wickets.
