Speculation of Yogi cabinet expansion intensifies, should happen after Makar Sankranti

The stir has once again intensified in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. After Makar Sankranti, the possibilities of expansion and reshuffle in the cabinet of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath are considered strong. Along with this, the process of formation of new state executive of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is also going to start.

Lucknow: After Makar Sankranti, preparations for reshuffle in the Yogi cabinet in the state have intensified. Along with this, the process of formation of new state executive of BJP is also likely to begin. According to sources, the exchange formula can be adopted between the organization and the government. This issue was discussed in depth in the core committee meeting held at the Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday. It is believed that changes in the cabinet will be implemented as soon as the green signal is received from Delhi, after which the work of restructuring the organization will also gain momentum.

Important meeting of core committee at CM residence

Recently, a long and important meeting of the BJP’s core committee was held at the Chief Minister’s residence in Lucknow. In this meeting which lasted for about one and a half hour, along with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, both the Deputy Chief Ministers – Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, BJP State President Pankaj Chaudhary, Organization General Secretary Dharampal Singh, and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) area campaigners East Anil and West Mahendra Kumar were present.

This meeting was also special because this was the first core committee meeting of Pankaj Chaudhary after becoming the state president. According to political experts, the agenda of the meeting was not limited to just reviewing the current situation, but there was also an in-depth discussion on the future election strategy.

‘Swap’ formula between organization and government

According to sources, there have been indications of agreement on the exchange formula between the organization and the government in the meeting. Under this, some senior and influential faces of the BJP organization can be included in the cabinet, while some ministers working in the government can be given important responsibilities in the organization.

Discussions are also intense regarding the possibility of outgoing state president Bhupendra Singh Choudhary joining the Yogi cabinet. It is believed that this step can be taken with the aim of establishing better coordination between the organization and the government.

Entry of new faces possible on vacant posts in the cabinet

At present there are a total of 54 ministers including the Chief Minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, while a maximum of 60 ministers can be made. After the recently held Lok Sabha elections, two ministers—former PWD minister Jitin Prasad and Minister of State for Revenue Anup Pradhan Valmiki—have become MPs. Due to this, some posts in the cabinet have become vacant.

There is a strong discussion about giving opportunities to new faces on these vacant posts. Apart from this, some leaders working as Ministers of State (Independent Charge) are also likely to be given the status of Cabinet Ministers. Immediately after the core committee meeting, BJP state president Pankaj Chaudhary left for Delhi.

Sources say that he will present complete details of the discussions and proposals made in the meeting before the central leadership of the party. As soon as permission is received from Delhi, the process of cabinet reshuffle and organization reorganization will formally begin.
