Vijay Hazare Trophy: Vidarbha’s victorious hat-trick, Chandigarh caught in the claws of Darshan, flag of victory

Vidarbha vs Chandigarh Score: On the basis of Darshan Nalkande’s brilliant 4 wickets, Nachiket Bhute and Deepesh Parwani’s sharp bowling and solid batting, last year’s runner-up Vidarbha team defeated Chandigarh by 8 wickets in its fourth league match of Vijay Hazare Trophy (Elite ‘B’ Group).

With this win, Vidarbha has registered its third consecutive win in the tournament and has kept its challenge strong in the race for the knockout stage. With 12 points after 4 league matches, Vidarbha’s next match will be played against Baroda on January 3.

Atharva-Dhruv’s half-century partnership

In this match played on Wednesday at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot, Chandigarh set a target of 114 runs for Vidarbha to win. While chasing the target, Vidarbha got off to a shaky start and lost the first wicket at the score of 12 runs. Aman Mokhade, who scored a century against Jammu and Kashmir, was out after scoring just 6 runs.

After this, openers Atharva Tayde and Dhruv Shorey took control of the team by making an important partnership of 66 runs for the second wicket and took the score to 78. Dhruv was out after scoring 43 runs in 43 balls with the help of 7 fours.

Victory recorded in 23 overs

After this, Atharva and Nachiket Bhute batted with restraint and took the team to victory without any pressure. Vidarbha achieved the target by losing 2 wickets in just 22.3 overs. Atharva remained unbeaten on 43 runs in 68 balls with the help of 5 fours, while Nachiket supported him well by scoring 15 runs in 13 balls with 2 fours. For Chandigarh, Sandeep Sharma and Rohit Dhande took one wicket each.

Deadly performance by Vidarbha bowlers

Earlier, the Chandigarh team, which won the toss and came to bat first, could not stand against the Vidarbha bowlers and got bundled out for just 113 runs in 29.1 overs. Darshan shocked Chandigarh by dismissing Manan Vohra on the very first ball of the match. After this Nachiket sent Arjun Azad and Tushar Joshi to the pavilion without opening the account.

Due to this, Chandigarh’s score was only 4 runs for 3 wickets. Arsalan Khan and Nikhil Thakur tried to handle the innings, but Yash Kadam dismissed Nikhil Thakur (17) at the total score of 43 runs. Soon after, Deepesh gave another blow to Chandigarh by running out Arsalan Khan (27). Half the team returned to the pavilion for just 49 runs.

Taranpreet Singh and Sanyam Saini tried to take the score to 83, but Taranpreet (17) became the victim of Deepesh. Sanyam Saini stayed till the end but he did not get support from the other end and the entire team was reduced to 113 runs. Sanyam scored the maximum of 36 runs (53 balls, 4 fours, 1 six). For Vidarbha, Darshan took 4 wickets for 33 runs, while Nachiket and Deepesh took 2 wickets each. Yash Kadam got a success.
