After Australia, Facebook-Insta-Youtube will be banned for children in France too

New Delhi. According to the report, the French government has prepared a draft law. Under this draft, new efforts will be made to protect children from excessive screen time and it is proposed to ban social media access for children below 15 years of age by September 2026.

Australia this month implemented a social media ban on children under 16. This is the first country in the world to take such a step. Now there is news that France is also preparing to bring a similar law. According to the report of news agency AFP, the French government has prepared a draft law. Under this draft, new efforts will be made to protect children from excessive screen time and it is proposed to ban social media access for children below 15 years of age by September 2026.

The initiative is said to have the support of President Emmanuel Macron, who said earlier this month that Parliament should begin debating the proposal in January. Australia this month imposed a ban on social media for people under 16 for the first time in the world.

The French draft states that numerous studies and reports now confirm the various risks posed by excessive use of digital screens by adolescents. The government said children who have unrestricted access to online services may be exposed to ‘inappropriate content’, become victims of cyber harassment or have altered sleep patterns.

According to the report, this draft law has two main articles. The first article makes it illegal to provide online social media services to a minor under the age of 15. The second article provides for banning the use of mobile phones in secondary schools.
