Amitabh Bachchan became emotional remembering Dharmendra in KBC 17, eyes filled with tears, said – ‘He was not just a human being, he was a feeling’
New Delhi: When veteran actor Dharmendra’s last film ‘Ikkis’ was released on the occasion of New Year, the moment became very emotional for cinema lovers. Meanwhile, on the stage of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17, megastar Amitabh Bachchan could not control himself and became emotional while remembering his old friend and co-star Dharmendra.
In the recent episode of KBC, Big B shared his relationship with Dharmendra, their personality and their experiences of working together. While narrating the memories related to the historical film like ‘Sholay’, Amitabh’s voice started trembling and his eyes filled with tears.
Tribute to Dharmendra on KBC stage
The star cast of the film ‘Ikkis’ was present on the sets of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17. Agastya Nanda and Jaideep Ahlawat also paid tribute to Dharmendra. The very beginning of the episode was dedicated to this veteran Bollywood artiste. As soon as Dharmendra was mentioned, Amitabh Bachchan became emotional and the pain was clearly visible in his voice.
‘Last precious memento of twenty-one Dharmendra’
Amitabh Bachchan said,"Twenty One is the last precious symbol of Dharmendra for all of us, which he left for crores of people. An actor wants to act till his last breath and this is what my friend, my family and my idol Mr. Dharmendra Deol did."
While saying this, the vibration in Big B’s voice could be clearly felt.
‘He was a feeling which never leaves us’
Remembering Dharmendra, Amitabh further said, “Mr. Dharm was not just a person, he was an emotion. And the feeling never leaves. It becomes a memory, it walks with you like a prayer and keeps you moving forward."
Unheard story of Sholay shooting
Remembering the days of the film Sholay, Amitabh Bachchan also shared an interesting anecdote. He told,"Once we were shooting in Bangalore. As I say, Dharmendra had physical strength. The agony you saw on screen in me in the death scene was real, because he held me so tightly that the pain automatically came out in my acting. My acting in that scene was completely natural."
Director and co-stars also remembered
Remembering Dharmendra, director of the film ‘Ikkis’ Sriram Raghavan said,"I consider myself very lucky that he worked in my film. His last performance was amazing.
Whereas Jaideep Ahlawat said,"I was fortunate that most of my scenes were with him. On the set we never felt that any superstar was with us, he seemed like a family member."
Film ‘Ikkis’ and debut of Agastya Nanda
Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda is seen in the lead role in the film ‘Ikkis’. This film became the medium for Agastya’s debut on the big screen. Along with him, Simar Bhatia is also seen in an important role.
