Vande Bharat, which has become known for comfortable travel and high speed, is now going to hit the tracks in sleeper version. The first Vande Bharat sleeper train between Delhi and Kolkata may start by the end of this month. With the operation of this train, passengers of four states namely Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal will get the benefit of fast and convenient travel. Before the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal after a few months, the central government can give a big gift to the state. According to sources, the first Vande Bharat sleeper train can be flagged off in the third week of January. However, earlier it was planned to start in December 2025.

The speed of Vande Bharat, which recently completed trials at a speed of 180 km per hour, may be slightly less in the sleeper version, but the journey will be much more comfortable for long distance passengers. Vande Bharat Sleeper train has been designed keeping in mind the long routes and will have state-of-the-art facilities available to the passengers.

4 states will benefit, There are many passengers on this route

The proposed Vande Bharat Sleeper train on the Delhi-Kolkata route will directly benefit the passengers of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal. Although its stoppages in UP and Bihar have not been decided yet, the possibility of stoppages at big stations like Kanpur, Prayagraj, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction and Patna is being expressed. Despite the large number of trains on this route, crowd of passengers and long waiting list are common, hence the new Vande Bharat Sleeper is expected to get a good response.

Special ‘water test’ at 180 speed,

The high-speed trial of Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has been successfully completed, in which the train achieved a speed of 180 kmph. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav had also shared its video on her ‘X’ handle on December 30. During the trials, a special ‘water test’ was conducted inside the train, so that the features and safety could be checked even at high speed.

During the high-speed trial, railway officials placed glasses filled with water on the table inside the train while the Vande Bharat sleeper was running at a speed of 180 km per hour. Despite this, not a single drop of water fell, which proved the strength of the train’s advanced suspension and vibration control technology. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav wrote on ‘X’ that this water test conducted on Kota-Nagda section has certified the technical capabilities of the new generation of Vande Bharat Sleeper.
