Delhi: Former Indian captain Dilip Vengsarkar believes that Sarfaraz Khan has the ability to play all three formats for India. He said that despite consistently performing well, it is surprising that Sarfaraz is not getting a chance in the team. In the current domestic season, Sarfaraz has scored a lot of runs in both Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Against Goa, he scored a century in 56 balls, which included 9 fours and 14 sixes. After this, he played a brilliant inning of 157 runs in 75 balls and took Mumbai to a big score of 444 runs in 50 overs.
Vengsarkar praised Sarfaraz
Dilip Vengsarkar said, “I don’t understand why Sarfaraz is not being selected in any format despite scoring runs so consistently.” He mentioned the Dharamsala Test against England, where Sarfaraz had formed a vital partnership with Devdutt Padikkal and helped India win.
Vengsarkar also said, “After the England series, Sarfaraz did not get a chance to play Test again. He was with the team on the Australia tour too, but he was not played a single match. This surprises me very much because he is a very good player to play in all formats of the game. Such talent has been ignored. It is really shameful.”

Talking about IPL, Sarfaraz remained unsold in the auction twice. After this, Chennai Super Kings bought him for Rs 75 lakh for IPL 2026. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he scored 329 runs in seven matches and his strike rate was more than 200.
In Vijay Hazare Trophy, he started with 55 runs against Uttarakhand and then played a explosive innings against Goa. Now the domestic season and the upcoming IPL are going to be very important for Sarfaraz, where he will once again try to make a place in Team India.
