Kiribati started the year 2026 first, new year started everywhere else.

Tarawa (Kiribati)/ New Delhi. The new year has started everywhere. First of all, 2026 started from Kiritimati island of Kiribati. Kiribati is also called Kiribas. It is an island group made up of several atolls. Here the New Year starts eight and a half hours before our country India.

The new year 2026 has started in India also. People celebrated with colorful lights, fireworks and music in cities across India. In Pune, Maharashtra, people welcomed the New Year by blowing balloons.

Apart from Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Amritsar, Hyderabad, Gwalior, Bangalore, Sonamarg, Philippines’ capital Manila, China, Hong Kong, Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, South Korea, North Korea, Japan, Australia’s Sydney city started 2026 with full enthusiasm and expectations.

People bid farewell to the past year and welcomed the new year with new hopes, resolutions and happiness. Spectacular fireworks were set off from the Sky Tower, the country’s tallest building, in downtown.

Beautiful views of sunset were seen on the last day of the year 2025 in Guwahati, Assam. The sky along the banks of the Brahmaputra river appeared colored in golden, orange and red colours. New Year was welcomed with fireworks in New Zealand’s capital Auckland. 2026 was welcomed amid rain-soaked weather.

On the eve of New Year, President of India Draupadi Murmu greeted the countrymen. He called upon all citizens to further strengthen their commitment towards national development, social harmony and environmental protection. The President said that the New Year is a symbol of new energy and positive change.

He called it an opportunity for self-reflection and taking new resolutions. Congratulating all the Indians living in the country and abroad, the President said, may the year 2026 bring peace, happiness and prosperity in our lives. He expressed hope that this New Year will infuse new energy to build a stronger and more prosperous India.
