China’s big conspiracy: Taiwan’s ‘Secret Defense Shield’ Security breach, secret military documents being stolen!
China-Taiwan News In Hindi: China is not only demonstrating its military might against Taiwan but is also working on a strategy to internally weaken its security system through espionage networks.
According to sources, China’s infiltration has reached the top levels of the Taiwanese military, government machinery and even politics. Experts believe that along with conducting large-scale military exercises around Taiwan, Beijing is keeping a close eye on its secret defense plans.
What is Chen Yimin case?
The biggest example of this espionage trap laid by China came to light in the year 2022. Taiwan Navy Marine Sergeant Chen Yimin was in debt and in dire need of money. He came across a loan advertisement on the internet which was actually from a Chinese agent. The agent lured him with a huge sum of cash in exchange for handing over secret Taiwanese military documents.
Out of compulsion and greed, Chen spent nearly a year downloading and printing top secret files from the computer systems of two military bases and sending their images to China through online messaging apps. For this work he received 1 lakh 70 thousand New Taiwan dollars but when caught in 2023, he was sentenced to 2 years and 2 months in jail.
Breach in the security of big leaders
Chen Yimin’s case is no exception. In recent years, more than 100 former and current Taiwanese soldiers and government employees have been accused of spying for China. The scope of espionage is so large that in some cases even the itineraries of President Lai Ching-te and former Foreign Minister Joseph Wu were leaked. In 2023, a retired soldier recruited nine other soldiers and handed over secret information about military bases and training to China.
China’s spy network and funding game
According to Taiwan’s Justice Ministry, China runs this network mainly through the Chinese Communist Party, the People’s Liberation Army and its Ministry of State Security. They use dating apps, social media platforms like Facebook and LinkedIn to trap Taiwanese citizens.
Apart from this, China also tries to make inroads at the political level where it funds election campaigns of pro-China leaders. In 2025, many people associated with the opposition party Kuomintang have also been accused of espionage.

Taiwan’s ‘National Security Package’
In response to these growing threats, in March 2025, President Lai Ching-te introduced a new 17-point national security package. Under this, military courts have been reintroduced and the provisions for punishment for espionage have been made extremely strict. According to government data, the effect of these strict measures is also visible, where 64 cases of espionage were reported in 2024, while their number is expected to reduce to 15 to 20 in 2025.
