Late Suryapal Verma Memorial State Level Cricket Tournament Ambedkar Nagar, organized under the aegis of Ambedkar Nagar District Cricket Association Ambedkar Nagar, was grandly inaugurated at 11 am. The tournament was inaugurated by District Panchayat President Shyam Sundar Verma alias Sadhuram Verma by garlanding the portrait of late Suryapal Verma.

The chief guest paid tribute by offering flowers on the portraits of late Ghanshyam Gupta, late Ved Prakash Srivastava, late Prabhash Chandra Srivastava and late Anshuman Mishra, who had earlier played their role in the Cricket Association Ambedkar Nagar. After that, chief guest Shyam Sundar Verma started the cricket match by introducing the players. Thereafter, Association President Lalit Mohan Srivastava welcomed the chief guest and other guests on the stage by presenting the bouquet and Secretary Rakesh Sonkar decorated the batch.

Team Ayodhya won by 5 wickets

This tournament is being played at BN Inter College located at the district headquarters. Today the inaugural match was played between the team of Kanpur and Ayodhya. After winning the toss, Kanpur team decided to bat first. Kanpur team scored 129 runs in 20 overs after losing eight wickets. Chasing the target of 130 runs, Ayodhya team won by scoring 131 runs after losing 5 wickets in 13 overs.

For Kanpur team, batsman Samrat scored 35 runs in 24 balls and Ayodhya bowler Akshay Rai took 4 wickets in 4 overs and spent 7 runs. Vikas Yadav, batting opener for Ayodhya team, contributed 49 runs with the help of 7 fours and 3 sixes. From Kanpur side, Samrat and Balram took 2 wickets each for their team. Ayodhya’s Akshay Rai was given the man of the match award for his lethal bowling.

In today’s cricket tournament, Shashi Bhushan Pandey and Nikhil Patel umpired and Ajay Srivastava, Syed Suhani and Vikram Yadav contributed as commentators and Anurag Upadhyay, Satyam Yadav contributed as scorers.
