Bangladesh: Attempt to burn another Hindu man alive, stabbed him with knives and poured petrol

Dhaka, January 1. Violence against Hindus is not stopping in Bangladesh. Now a Hindu man named Khokan Chandra was surrounded by the mob in Shariatpur area. He was first beaten brutally, then stabbed with a knife and finally an attempt was made to burn him alive by pouring petrol on him.

Trader Khokon Chandra Das somehow saved his life by jumping into a nearby pond. He has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. At present, this attack shows the extent to which atrocities against minorities have reached in Bangladesh.

According to the information received, the attack took place in Tiloi area of ​​Kaneshwar Union on Wednesday (31 December) at around 9 pm. Khokon Chandra Das (40), son of Paresh Chandra Das. He owns a pharmacy in Keurbhanga market of Damudya. Khokon Chandra was returning home after closing his shop. When he reached Tiloi area, a group of miscreants stopped him. The attackers attacked him with sharp weapons and then poured petrol on his body and set him on fire.

Khokon Das jumped into a nearby pond to save his life from the flames. Later, the local people rescued him in critical condition and admitted him to Shariatpur Sadar Hospital. This incident has spread widespread panic in the area. The motive behind the attack and the identity of the people involved have not yet been confirmed.

Fourth incident of attack in last two weeks

This is the fourth incident of attack on the minority Hindu community in the last two weeks. Earlier on December 18, Dipu Chandra Das was killed by the mob. His body was then tied to a tree and burnt. He was accused of blasphemy. After this, on December 25, Amrit Mandal was beaten to death by the mob. However, to save itself from the scandal, Bangladesh had said that Amrit Mandal was a criminal and was killed by the mob due to extortion.

The third incident took place on December 29 in Mehrabari area, where Bajendra Biswas (42) was shot dead while on security duty. The police had arrested the accused Noman Mia (29). The accused said that he had shot jokingly.

If seen, attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh have come to light after the coup. Groups of students who have been protesting fiercely after ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh have made Mohammad Yunus the head of the interim government. Yunus is a famous Bangladeshi economist, social entrepreneur and Nobel Peace Prize winner. After taking over the government, he has also given anti-India statements.
